The not-so-secret ingredient to Ladyfest Ottawa’s success: its volunteers. Dedicated and multi-talented, our volunteers work tirelessly to make each LFO event notable. Want to know how to become a valued member of this quirky crew? Here’s how:

What Is There to Do?

The LFO steering committee comprises a core group of multi-disciplinary volunteers that organize all aspects of the festival. The steering committee branches out in to a wide range of sub-committees:

  • music progamming
  • workshop programming
  • film programming
  • bookkeeping
  • grant writing
  • fundraising
  • volunteer coordination
  • sponsorship
  • design
  • food

We work in a committee structure to provide volunteers with an opportunity to explore and gain experience in their areas of interest and spread the workload. Our meetings help keep everyone updated and facilitate with some of the decision-making at the sub-committee level.

We meet and organize events (craft sales, film nights, etc.) sporadically year-round, however we begin concentrating on the festival about 6-8 months before it is launched. On average, steering committee members contribute 5-10 hours of their time a month. Volunteer hours increase significantly close to and during the festival.

Part-time lovers welcome

LFO understands that time is not always on your side. Luckily, there is never a shortage of jobs –big or small, we can always use extra sets of hands to: poster, poster, poster !

During the festival we need people to: help set-up and tear-down, work as security guards, be a runner, stage manage, and more.

Think you have the skillz to pay the billz?
